Music at FBC has a long tradition of excellence and contributes greatly to the worshipping community. There is the opportunity for people of all ages to be engaged and to grow musically through the groups within the church. The Sanctuary Choir, the Youth Choir, and three children’s choirs are open to anyone interested in using music as a way to serve our Lord. In addition to the main choirs, there are two vocal ensembles and two handbell ensembles for those wishing for greater opportunity to learn and perform. Facilitating worship with dignity and joy is the primary function of our choirs, but there are some special events throughout the year in which sacred music plays a vital role. During the Advent season, special musical programs abound. The youth host a dinner theater for the church each February, and each Spring the Sanctuary Choir hosts a Composer Weekend, where such names as Mary McDonald, Joseph Martin, and Allen Pote have shared their sacred creations with the church. The 8-10 day tour in June is a highlight of the year for our youth. First Baptist truly embraces the Psalmist’s bidding for the church to “...sing a new song to the Lord.”
