Youth Choir

The choir’s repertoire consists of the anthems they use once a month when they lead in worship at FBC Forsyth.   They sang with the Sanctuary Choir at FBC for the Christmas Concert.  Each January, they participate in a Winter Retreat where they spend the weekend rehearsing before leading in worship at the Chapel in Sky Valley, GA.  In February, to raise funds for the annual tour, the members host the annual Dinner Theater which includes a full show of a secular nature.  The choir consists mainly of members of FBC but is open to youth of other denominations and churches if the rehearsals don’t conflict with their home church activities.  The choir is directed by First Baptist Church of Forsyth's Minister of Music, Glenn H. Gregg.

The Youth Choir of First Baptist Church in Forsyth is comprised of singers in grades 6-12.  They sing sacred choral literature in a traditional style.  Within the choir are three small groups that also perform with the choir.  The auditioned vocal ensemble goes by the name, “New Voice”.  There is also a drama troupe which utilizes dramatic sketches to add to the worship concert and they go by the name, “Chi Rho Company”..  Finally there is a three-octave handbell group which plays on tour.

The choir has been on a yearly tour in early June for the past 18 years.  They have taken tours to Chicago, Texas, Colorado, Toronto, Pennsylvania, New Orleans, Nashville, St. Louis, California, Key West, Virginia and Washington DC.  On each tour they perform in churches, homeless shelters, prisons, retirement communities, hospitals, and facilities for the handicapped.  At each of these “mission settings” they frequently become involved in the ministry in ways other than singing. They have sung the National Anthem for major league baseball games played in Baltimore, Detroit, and San Francisco.  They were the service choir for Sunday worship at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Trinity Church Wall Street, First Baptist Church of Knoxville, San Fernando Cathedral in San Antonio and have sung for churches with anywhere from 75 to 1500 members.
